About this website

We started the Kujaja project on September 27, 2012. The original 127 members of this community wanted to make a photobook. Instead of sharing our photos online, we wanted to have something tangible to hold in our hands, something offline we’d make online. We democratically voted on the book’s theme. Water was chosen. We also needed to select an organization to whom we would donate the profit we’d earn with the book. The Bangladesh charity, Operation Water and Rice was chosen. After the Water book, the Kujaja community published several more photobooks including our first Street Photography book. It was then that we realized street photography should have its own dedicated website. In 2014, we expanded Kujaja adding a second website, World Street Photography, which is dedicated solely to the street photography genre.

World Street Photography (WSP) is an independent organization, which promote and encourage street photographers from all around the world. Here you can join the World Street Photography Awards, get published and exhibited. Every body can join us, we are not a closed collective or about a single street photographer. Our profits made with our yearly street photography photo books are donated to charity organizations.
