London Bridge, 2018

Lara Kantardjian:When I first saw this photo, my first words were ‘no way is this for real?’ A fox using the escalator at London bridge in broad daylight as if it owned the place is not only a sight you don’t expect to see at all but the chances of being there to see this scene with camera in hand to take the shot and timing it so perfectly is just amazing. And if that wasn’t enough we even get a close interaction with that direct gaze. I love how this fox is just casually going down the stars in the opposite direction and wondering what went through the mind of the figure at the top of the stairs when this fox passed by him, or if he was even aware of its presence. Overall a surprising and exceptional moment, perfectly composed and with a wonderful story. Awesome work.

A Shoe

A Shoe A Shoe

Lara Kantardjian:What a scene! Great storytelling and title. As with the shoe itself, for me the scene has a sense of displacement. Displaced characters layered together within the same frame. From the main character caught in the midst of a private moment of prayer to the passer by who appears to take no notice of her surroundings, to the man preoccupied with his shopping bag. Everything feels so disjointed, a bit strange and theatrical. But that’s what makes this photograph so strong. An excellent street shot.
